pronouns: he/him
Emmanuel is our horse trainer and equine expert. He may be an active part of our equine facilitated wellness sessions, supporting us with the horses or around the barn while we're working together. Emmanuel is part of our team and is bound by the same confidentiality and privacy laws that our therapists work under.
Betty White is a (formerly wild!) Mustang who came to us in June 2022 from the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon. Betty is naturally kind, gentle, loves getting attention and wants to connect. She takes her job very seriously and its been fun to watch her show up with her own personality when she's working with clients.
Luna is a Gypsy Vanner and joined our herd in December 2023! She's just a baby with a ton of energy and strong desire to connect -- but she still has so much to learn! She loves meeting new people.
Penny Benjamin is a (formerly wild!) Mustang who came to us in June 2022 from the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon. Like people, Penny has her own personality and has needed a little more time to come out of her shell. She's the kind of gal that knows what she likes, what she doesn't like, and is happy to set boundaries when she needs to.
Phoenix got his name after we rescued him from a feedlot in June 2023. Phoenix got his name after we rescued him from a feedlot in June 2023. He is a draft/Appaloosa cross and looks like he has ashes on his back ... but it's also like he's emerging from the ashes to rise again -- safe from the life he had. Phoenix is a sweet, curious guy who's had a hard past (we don't know much about it but we can tell he hasn't always been in a safe and loving environment) and he struggles to trust. As he continues training with Emmanuel and our team, he'll also get the opportunity to meet clients.
Just like with people, our horses are continuing to learn and develop their skills in helping support the clients we work with. We've carefully chosen the horses that we partner with, as well as the trainer and therapeutic approach in an effort to give you the best experience in your equine-facilitated wellness journey. Clients can meet Penny and Betty through our equine therapy program, where they are valuable partners in the therapy process, helping clients build connections and relationships while also exploring emotional regulation. Equine-facilitated wellness services can be helpful for folks who have experienced trauma or when "in the office" therapy just isn't the right fit. Sometimes getting outside and being with the horses is the small change that makes the biggest difference. We are offering limited equine-facilitated services at this time to current Cascade Counseling and Consulting clients only.
Are you a Master's level clinician, independently licensed mental health clinician or medical prescriber? We're always looking for new people to join our team.
